We are excited to introduce our fantastic summer camp staff for CPF Manitoba. Each of them brings unique skills, enthusiasm, and dedication to making this summer an unforgettable experience for our campers. Let’s get to know Laurel, McKenna, and Julianne a little better with a fun Q&A session.
Meet Laurel
Q: Where did you go to high school and when did you graduate?
A: CSLR, graduated in 2021.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: Computer science at U of M. I would like to start a tech startup.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
A: Run really fast, so I wouldn’t waste time and could do more things.
Q: If you could only eat one type of candy for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Haribo gummy bears.
Q: What’s your spirit animal and why do you think it represents you?
A: A rat, because they are misunderstood and very intelligent.
Q: If you could host a camp talent show, what secret talent would you showcase?
A: Coding. I would code something cool.
Q: If you had to choose one camp song to listen to on repeat for an entire day, which one would it be?
A: “Papaoutai” by Stromae.
Q: If you could invite any famous person (dead or alive) to be a guest counselor at Camp Soleil, who would it be and why?
A: LeBron James, because he’s a great guy and an incredible athlete.
Q: What’s the silliest nickname you’ve ever been given?
A: LauLau.
Q: If you could design your own camp t-shirt, what would it look like?
A: Jersey style, that would be cool.
Q: What’s the most ridiculous fashion trend you secretly wish would make a comeback?
A: Baggy pants, because they are so comfortable and relaxed.
Q: Your last meal, what would it be?
A: Sushi. I love sushi.
Meet Kendra
Q: Where did you go to high school and when did you graduate?
A: Miles Mac, 2024.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: U of M – track team. Long distance, faculty of science.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
A: Flexibility like Elastigirl, so I could walk fast and be very versatile.
Q: If you could only eat one type of candy for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Live wires.
Q: What’s your spirit animal and why do you think it represents you?
A: A sea turtle, because I like being in the water, go with the flow, and I’m laid back.
Q: If you could host a camp talent show, what secret talent would you showcase?
A: Comedy. I am very funny.
Q: If you had to choose one camp song to listen to on repeat for an entire day, which one would it be?
A: “99 Bottles of Orange Juice on the Wall.”
Q: If you could invite any famous person (dead or alive) to be a guest counselor at Camp Soleil, who would it be and why?
A: Bill Nye, because he’s a great science teacher.
Q: What’s the silliest nickname you’ve ever been given?
A: Kenni.
Q: If you could design your own camp t-shirt, what would it look like?
A: Tie-dye. I love colors.
Q: What’s the most ridiculous fashion trend you secretly wish would make a comeback?
A: 2000s fashion, because of the bright colors.

A: Pulled pork sandwich.
Meet Julianne
Q: Where did you go to high school and when did you graduate?
A: University of Winnipeg Collegiate, graduated in 2020.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: Studying at the University of Winnipeg to become a physiotherapist.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
A: Pause time, so I could take a break and have infinite time.
Q: If you could only eat one type of candy for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Sour Patch Kids.
Q: What’s your spirit animal and why do you think it represents you?
A: A cat, because I like their lifestyle and they’re beautiful.
Q: If you could host a camp talent show, what secret talent would you showcase?
A: Ballet dancing.
Q: If you had to choose one camp song to listen to on repeat for an entire day, which one would it be?
A: “Chaque fois” by Rayannah.
Q: If you could invite any famous person (dead or alive) to be a guest counselor at Camp Soleil, who would it be and why?
A: Carmen Campagne, because she’s so fun and everyone loves her music.
Q: What’s the silliest nickname you’ve ever been given?
A: Hools.
Q: If you could design your own camp t-shirt, what would it look like?
A: Bright yellow with lots of colors.
Q: What’s the most ridiculous fashion trend you secretly wish would make a comeback?
A: Shoulder pads from the 80s.
Q: Your last meal, what would it be?
A: Mr. Calzone’s chicken calzone (no cheese).
