CPF-MB recently wrapped up the 40th edition of the Concours d’art oratoire, held May 1–2, 2024. This year, over 4,700 students participated province-wide, with 165 speeches delivered at the Provincial Finals hosted in person at the Université de Saint-Boniface. It was a strong showing of student dedication to French language learning and public speaking.

What is Concours d’art oratoire?

The Councours d’art oratoire is Canada’s largest annual French public-speaking competition.

The competition is open to students in every province and territory in a wide range of age/grade categories and French abilities. Thousands of students participate every year in communities big and small for their opportunity to win prizes and/0r scholarships to postsecondary institutions!

Important Notes on Concours 2025

  • Where the category indicates OR, students may choose one of the two speech options provided. Both options compete in one category. For example: for Early Immersion, grades 3 & 4, students may choose between a speech OR Raconter une histoire, with both types of speech competing in the same category.
  • Certificates of Participation will be provided for all participants at the school level of competition, in addition to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons for each classroom competition. Prizes, including certificates, cash and medals will be awarded to the top three winners in each category at the Provincial level of competition.

What are the benefits of the Concours for students?
