This summer, Camp Soleil made its way across Manitoba, bringing fun-filled activities, new friendships, and an immersive French language experience for children from all over the province. From swimming at local pools to playing camp games like Mafia, every stop was packed with excitement and learning. Here’s a look back at the four stops we made along the way!

Winnipeg

We spent four incredible weeks at the Glenwood Community Centre in Winnipeg, where campers participated in various games, creative workshops, and fun outdoor activities. From arts and crafts to competitive team-building games, Winnipeg was buzzing with energy. Caelan, our camp coordinator, noted how “the flexibility we gave the kids made all the difference. They stayed engaged, had fun, and made lots of new friends.”

Morden

In Morden, the campers enjoyed exploring nature and engaging in outdoor sports. The highlight was a camp-wide scavenger hunt, where kids worked together to solve clues—all while practicing their French!

Beausejour

In Beausejour, campers kicked off with team-building games and arts & crafts. The older kids stepped up as leaders, helping the younger ones throughout the activities. “At first, I was nervous, but seeing how well the kids responded to the activities put me at ease,” shared Caelan.

Swan River

The Swan River stop featured plenty of water-based fun at the local aquatic center, where campers splashed around while improving their French through games and songs. “The kids at Swan River loved singing French songs, and it was a joy to see them fully embrace the language in such a fun setting,” Caelan recalled

Challenges and Lessons

Reflecting on the camp experience, Caelan shared, “We had some challenges with the initial schedule being too strict, but we quickly adapted and let the kids have more control over the pace. That flexibility made all the difference!” The camp staff worked hard to ensure every camper was engaged, with parents providing overwhelmingly positive feedback about how much the kids enjoyed the camp and made new friends.

Looking Ahead

As we plan for next year’s Camp Soleil, one thing is clear: there will be even more outdoor activities and deeper engagement with the local communities. “There’s always more to plan and add,” said Caelan, emphasizing the importance of expanding the program and continuing to connect with communities across Manitoba.
